Pointe du Tsaté

Well-marked summit in Val d’Hérens, sitting between the Moiry and Arolla valleys. The hike typically starts from the Lac de Moiry side or from Les Haudères, depending on the route. The path leads through alpine pastures, rocky slopes, and a final scree section that is steady but manageable for most experienced hikers.

From the summit, you get a broad, open view of the surrounding peaks: the Dent Blanche, Weisshorn, and the Moiry Glacier dominate the skyline on one side, while the Arolla valley opens on the other. The top is spacious enough to rest, with a clear panorama in all directions.

It’s a popular objective for hikers who want a summit over 3,000 meters without technical equipment. The terrain is typical high-alpine hiking: stable trails, some loose rock near the top, and no exposed sections. Depending on conditions, patches of snow can remain early or late in the season.
